Abdus Salam Hosaini (rahmatullahi alaihe)

Syed Mohammed Abdus Salam Hosaini (rahmatullahi alaihe) narrates that he was once staying in Madinah al-Munawara. He was without food for three days.

Syed Mohammed Abdus Salam Hosaini (rahmatullahi alaihe) offered two rakah of salaat near the Mimber Shareef (the Pulpit in the Mosque). Afterwards, Syed Mohammed Abdus Salam Hosaini (rahmatullahi alaihe) stated: “Oh grandfather (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam)! I am very hungry. I wish to eat sorit (a special dish).”

Syed Mohammed Abdus Salam Hosaini (rahmatullahi alaihe) fell asleep after that. He was however awakened by a man moments later. The man gave him sorit in a bowl made of wood. The bowl contained meat, ghee, and many other items.

Syed Mohammed Abdus Salam Hosaini (rahmatullahi alaihe) asked: “Where did you get these?” The man replied: “My children wanted to eat these for the past three days. Allah Subhanahu Wa Tala'a has given me some today. Finally, I was able to cook some today. I fell asleep afterwards and was blessed with the auspicious vision of the Beloved Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) in a dream.”

In the dream, the Beloved Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) stated: “One of your brothers has expressed his desire to me to eat these. Therefore, give him some to eat.”
