Dream of a saint

Hazrat Besherhafi (rahmatullahi alaihe) was a famous saint.

Besherhafi (rahmatullahi alaihe) was once blessed with the vision of the Beloved Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) in a dream. In the dream, the Beloved Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) stated that it is a good deed for the rich and the powerful to show mercy and kindness to the saints. It is even better for the saints to be proud against the rich regarding wealth. This means that it is a duty for the saints not to turn to wealthy individuals for money.

Besherhafi (rahmatullahi alaihe) was born in a place called Morou. He used to live in Baghdad and remained intoxicated all the time early in his life. One day Besherhafi (rahmatullahi alaihe) was walking on the street while intoxicated. A piece of paper suddenly caught his attention. The paper contained Bismillah Shareef (“Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim”). Besherhafi (rahmatullahi alaihe) became very restless when he saw the piece of paper on the ground. He picked up the piece of paper, kissed it with great respect, and took it home. Besherhafi (rahmatullahi alaihe) put attar on the piece of paper and placed it in a high place.

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'alla liked the action of Besherhafi (rahmatullahi alaihe) and forgave him. Besherhafi (rahmatullahi alaihe) became a saint from that day on.
