Al-Muwatta

Hazrat Muhammad ibn Abissiri Askalani (rahmatullahi alaihe) states that he once saw the Beloved Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) in a dream and asked: “Oh Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam)! Give me some advice so that I can convey to others. The Beloved Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) replied: “Oh Askalani! I have given Malik ibn Anas a treasure which he is distributing amongst you. This treasure is “Muwatta.”

Hazrat Imam Malik (rahmatullahi alaihe) collected Al-Muwatta. Imam Malik (rahmatullahi alaihe) is also known as “Najm” or the star. Imam Shafi'i (rahmatullahi alaihe) described Muwatta as one of the most purest books in the world. Hazrat Ibn Arabi (rahmatullahi alaihe) stated that Muwatta is the source and Shahih Bukhari is the second source. Hazrat Shah Abdul Aziz Muhaddese Dehlavi (rahmatullahi alaihe) described Muwatta as the core foundation of both Bukhari Shareef and Muslim Shareef.
